Oh, great, Stephen King’s at it again. The man who’s churned out more nightmares than a haunted typewriter factory just can’t sit still. At IGN Fan Fest 2025, the horror overlord confirmed he’s scribbling fresh material for Mike Flanagan’s shiny new Dark Tower TV series. Because apparently, seven books, a bazillion spin-offs, and a 2017 movie so bad it made fans cry blood wasn’t enough closure for Mid-World.
King, in his infinite cryptic wisdom, teased he’s “writing some stuff” but clammed up quick, muttering something about jinxes. Sure, Steve, like we’re the ones who’ll curse this project into another cinematic dumpster fire. This comes hot on the heels of his October 2024 X post, where he dangled a return to “Mid-World and the Territories” like a carrot for us peasants starving for more Roland Deschain angst. What’s next, a musical?
Mike Flanagan—yes, the guy who turned Gerald’s Game into a Netflix fever dream and gave us Doctor Sleep without putting us to sleep—is steering this ship. He’s promising a faithful adaptation of King’s sprawling, genre-mashing epic about a gunslinger chasing a tower across a multiverse of misery. You know, the one with the crimson kings, psychic kids, and enough Western vibes to make Clint Eastwood squint. Unlike that 2017 Idris Elba-led disaster (sorry, Idris, you deserved better), this one’s a series, so maybe they’ll actually have time to explain what the hell’s going on.
King’s new contributions? No clue. He’s guarding them like they’re the last Twinkie in a zombie apocalypse. Could be a prequel, a side quest, or just Roland’s grocery list—your guess is as good as ours. Either way, it’s more fuel for Flanagan’s fanboy fire, and we’re here for it, popcorn and skepticism in hand. Stay tuned, or don’t—King’s probably already plotting the next 12 books while you’re reading this.
